Military Night (March 3, 2012)
March 3rd played host to the Victoria Royals Military Night.
This night saw several military personal take in the game between the Royals and the Vancouver Giants. There were also several military exhibits staged throughout the concourse to increase awareness about the Armed Forces.
This night also saw Victoria welcome "Super Fan" Camerson Hughes to the game. Hughes was exceptional in helping the crowd cheer the Royals onto a 5-2 victory.
Pink in the Rink (January 28, 2012)
On January 28th, 2012 the Victoria Royals hosted division rival the Kamloops Blazers for Pink in the Rink in support of the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
Royals' players wore special pink jerserys during the game, while fans were given the opportunity to get pink cowbells, pink hardhats and various other items.
After the game, the game-wore jerseys were auctioned off with all proceeds going to the B.C. Cancer Foundation.
Teddy Bear Toss (Dec. 9, 2011)
On December 9, 2011 the Victoria Royals hosted the Lethbridge Hurricanes for their first Teddy Bear Toss in support of the TLC Fund for Kids and Times Colonist Christmas Fund
Royals' forward Zane Jones scored Victoria's first marker at 18:11 of the first period on route to a 8-5 victory.
Later in the year Royals' staff members Matt Human (Manager of Communications & Hockey Operations Coordinator), Darren Parker (Senior VP of Sales and Marketing) and Mike Corrigan (Marketing and Communcations Coordinator) presented CEO and President of the Queen Alexandra Foundation, Ron Hewitt, with the teddy bears.
"We are so thankful to the fans of the Victoria Royals. It says a lot that they cared enough about kids to take a stuffed animal to the hockey game. We'll make sure they all find a good home, the whole truckload of them?" said Hewitt about the donation.
Marty's Birthday 2011 (Nov 13, 2011)
Marty the Marmot celebrated his sixth birthday on Sunday, November 13th along with a dozen of his mascot friends! To kick off the party, the first 2,500 fans who arrived received a Marty the Marmot Bobblehead courtesy of Coca-Cola.
Fans were able to sign Marty’s birthday card at Gate 1 prior to the game, while Marty and friends handed out kids’ goodie bags to all those young fans who joined the party!
