Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals Hockey Club is proud to announce that to date, the team has helped raise over $320,000 for local organizations and charitable causes through a variety of promotions and initiatives.

Victoria’s ‘Pink in the Rink’ Night held on January 28th was a huge success as fans and sponsors came through to help raise more than $33,000 in support of the B.C. Cancer Foundation.

This season also saw the Royals initiate the ‘Stop Hunger’ Campaign in conjunction with the Shields Harney Law Firm. For every save made by a Royals’ goaltender during the regular season, a pound of non-perishable food was matched, totaling 2,079 lbs. of food donated, as a well as a cash donation of $3,500 to the Mustard Seed Food Bank. Proceeds from other Royals’ ventures like the team’s ‘Christmas Pictures with Marty’ have also yielded more than $550 in support of the Mustard Seed.

The Royals’ fundraising efforts have generated over $25,000 in support of charitable efforts such as KidSport, Tour De Rock and Free the Children to this point. These associations work tirelessly to give children opportunities to play sport, support the fight against cancer and empower children through education.

To date, more than $190,000 has been raised through 50/50 and Chuck-A-Puck sales at Royals’ home games, with proceeds going towards local charitable organizations such as the Westshore Rebels Football Team and assorted minor hockey associations in the community.

Marty the Marmot and his tireless efforts in the community have helped generate over $14,000 for a variety of charitable causes and organizations. The Victoria Royals have also donated over $800 from sales of Mini Marty stuffed animals in the past year to the Vancouver Island Marmot Recovery Foundation.

Merchandise and suite donations totaling over $15,000 have also been made on behalf of the team to various organizations and associations in the capital region.

Ticket donations worth more than $15,000 were given out this season, as well as discounted group rates on tickets which contributed more than $6,000 to local organizations.
